Climate Action
Climate change is one such phenomenon that cannot be ignored, and for Bangladesh, acting on this is even more of an imperative. Indeed, as the most climate vulnerable country, its people face significant problems like floods, droughts, sea level rise, and tropical cyclones. These adverse effects put millions of people and food sources at risk. Nevertheless, Bangladesh is being characterized as a new nation aiming to capitalize on climate change impacts. It is working towards becoming a model for other countries through implementation of programs, such as community based disaster management, integrated coastal zone management and ecosystem based management. This compares quite favorably with the approach taken within the perspective of the climate economy of Bangladesh – where opportunities for employment provision in green-collar jobs, investment in renewable energy and climate friendly development are encouraged. Green economy growth envisaged here will generate poverty-proof income while avoiding carbon emissions in the processes. Work for Better Society (WBS) also believes this a good time to strengthen the Organisation’s efforts to contribute to the climate movement. In the future, WBS intends to concentrate on empowering communities for the adoption of environment-friendly farming practices, promoting renewable energy in rural regions and cooperating with global networks for climate advocacy. WBS hopes to help Bangladesh shift into a climate ресонибель country by strengthening local peoples influence and changing policy.
